On 25, 26 & 27 August, the Shanty madness will start again in Appingedam. During this three -day event we can welcome a total of around 45,000 visitors that will provide the historic center of Appingedam with a unique atmosphere. This 16th volume there will be around 35 groups and choirs to be heard. These numbers make this festival the largest Folk & Seasong festival in Europe. In addition to the many shanty groups, numerous peripheral activities are organized. This year there is also a maritime market where you will find unique antique seafarers items, among other things. There are also numerous workshops and activities that you can participate completely for free. And like every year, this year is again the tour boat with groups on board with which you can sail through the canals of Appingedam in order to experience the beauty of our city!
